About the Role Automated Mechanical is looking for a motivated HVAC Apprentice to join our service or install team and build a career in commercial HVAC. This entry-level role is centered on preventative maintenance, retrofit installations, and service work, giving you hands-on experience alongside licensed technicians while you work toward your own certifications and license. It's a strong fit for someone eager to learn the trade from the ground up. What You'll Do Assist licensed technicians with scheduled preventative maintenance, service, and installations on commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers Perform basic maintenance and installation tasks such as filter changes, coil cleaning, belt and pulley inspection, and lubrication of moving parts Help diagnose and troubleshoot routine service issues under direct supervision Learn to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals Support technicians during service calls, start-ups, and equipment inspections Keep accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and observations for the lead technician Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on every job site Follow all safety procedures, EPA guidelines, and company policies Transport tools, parts, and equipment to and from job sites as needed Attend company-provided training sessions and pursue progress toward HVAC certification Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Willingness to work toward EPA 608 Certification Basic mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in confined spaces Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions Valid driver's license in good standing Strong attendance and reliability Preferred Enrollment in or completion of a trade school or HVAC training program Prior experience in a mechanical, construction, or maintenance environment Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems Compensation & Benefits Competitive apprentice pay with scheduled increases tied to skill progression Paid on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced technicians Support toward EPA and state licensing requirements Health, dental, and vision coverage plus retirement plan PTO and paid company holidays Clear path for advancement into a full HVAC Technician role
