Description
Dovetail is the Customer Intelligence Platform for the entire organization. We unify fragmented feedback from every touchpoint, including sales calls, support tickets, and research, into a single AI-powered intelligence layer that empowers every team to build, sell, and serve with confidence. Founded in 2017, we are a team of 100+ across our offices in Sydney and San Francisco, working with thousands of teams from Fortune 500 companies to the world’s most innovative startups.
The best never guess. We help teams turn the noise of thousands of customer interactions into the signal required to move faster, prioritize better, and drive revenue.
THE ROLE
We’re building a team of incredibly talented product designers. At Dovetail, designers are accountable for crafting world-class experiences, interactions, and solutions that improve the product for our customers, and drive user adoption. This role places a stronger emphasis on visual design, prototyping, usability testing, and evolving our design system. We're looking for someone with exceptional attention to detail who can create experiences that reflect our incredibly high bar for quality.
This is a full-time, in-person first role (4 days in the office), working from our Surry Hills HQ.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Champion the customer - Naturally, the customer is at the heart of everything we do. Deeply understand customer needs, perspectives, and goals by talking to customers regularly, getting involved in research initiatives, running usability testing on your designs, participating in our community, and responding to customer feedback.
- Collaborate on our product design - Work with the product team (researchers, designers, engineers, and product managers) across the entire design process to deliver new features and improve existing ones. You'll collaborate closely with the team to understand customer pain points and requirements, then design elegant, intuitive solutions that balance customer needs with business goals and technical constraints.
- Partner closely with engineers - You'll work closely with engineers from idea through to shipped product, sweating the details on the implementation of designs to ensure a high quality product experience.
- Shape our design system - Work closely with designers and engineers to evolve patterns and components to be shared across different parts of the product experience, helping create a consistent and scalable design language.
- Contribute to our design team culture - We're a small but fast-growing team that values close collaboration. We'd love for you to actively participate in our design rituals and work together on cross-product challenges.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Strong visual and interaction design skills - A background in graphic design, digital design, or a related discipline. You'll have strong user interface and visual design skills that complement our existing team. Ideally, you have a few years of experience designing software products, supported by a strong portfolio that demonstrates creativity, craft, and attention to detail.
- Product design fundamentals - You have experience across the product design process, from product discovery and user research through to UX, interaction, and visual design. You feel confident prototyping concepts to quickly communicate and iterate on ideas with others, and can deliver thoughtful, detailed solutions with support when needed.
- Exceptional attention to detail - One of our values is "if we do it, we nail it." You have a high quality bar, excellent taste and strive to maintain a pixel-perfect level of detail and consistency across every product experience.
- A pragmatic mindset - You're comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities. You solve problems resourcefully and can make pragmatic trade-offs while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
- Clear and thoughtful communication - You confidently share your opinions, ideas, and rationale with teamm
