Position overview
In the context of a maternity leave placement (CDD contract - 6 months), we are looking for an Accountant role, who will report to the Senior Accountant, located in Monaco. This role requires meticulousness and precision, as well as adherence to a deadline culture.
Main Responsibilities
Monegasque entities
Corporate Accounting
• Handle the day-to-day accounting on some of the entities (invoices – bank reconciliation), in accordance with the IFRS principles and the company accounting policy.
• Contributes to the month end process.
• Prepare the monthly tax (VAT) report.
• Contribute to the preparation of external audits of some entities.
• Other ad-hoc accounting or finance related assignments.
• Preparation of weekly cash forecast
Payroll - Accounting and Control
• Record and reconcile payroll entries in the accounting system.
• Verify the accuracy and consistency of payroll data and general ledger postings.
• Reconcile payroll accounts, including salaries, taxes, and social contributions.
• Track provisions for paid leave, bonuses, and other employee benefits.
• Recording invoices related to Social, bank entries and bank reconciliation.
• Accrual provision on monthly/quarterly basis (Holiday, retirement benefit, and associated charges).
• Assist/ Verify in preparing annual declarations (e.g., employee income reports, training, apprenticeship taxes).
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Group Accounting
• Group bank reconciliations.
• Posting of intercompany transactions
• Posting of selected operational transactions
• Participate in monthly financial closings
Education and Experience
• Accountant/finance/economics or other relevant degree preferred, with minimum 3 years of experience in maritime, shipping, and/or airlines or major construction projects.
• A professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is a plus.
Skills:
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS and Monegasque).
• Basic knowledge of French VAT, Italian VAT and EU VAT reverse charge rule.
• Used to work with ERP (MSBC is a plus).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).
• Fluent in English and French, Italian would be a plus.
