What You’ll Do
As the Assistant Controller, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the organization and supporting a portfolio of active development and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Controller
• Lead and support month-end close activities
• Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements, budgets, and management reports
• Reconcile and validate balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Monitor working capital and assist with project cash management, transfers, and wire activity
• Assemble, submit, and track construction loan draws and equity funding requests
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and project-level financial reporting
• Analyze job cost reporting and forecast project performance
• Partner closely with Development Directors to manage project budgets and financial outcomes
• Help enhance accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
• Assist with audits, compliance requirements, and special projects
• Support the Controller with leadership initiatives and department development
What We’re Looking For in the Assistant Controller
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA preferred, but not required
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with full-cycle accounting responsibilities
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with Sage or similar ERP/accounting software
• Construction, development, project accounting, or real estate industry experience is highly preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
