Description
Xaira seeks an engineer to design and deploy agentic AI systems that can reason over biomedical knowledge, plan multi-step analyses, and autonomously integrate diverse scientific data sources to accelerate therapeutic discovery. The role involves building LLM-based agents for literature synthesis, knowledge graph integration, and clinical data analysis. About the Company: Xaira Therapeutics is a biotech startup leveraging AI to advance drug discovery. The firm develops generative AI models for protein and antibody therapeutics, plus foundation models for biology and disease research. Headquarters span the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and London. Responsibilities: • Design agentic AI architectures for multi-step reasoning and tool use in biomedical contexts • Develop LLM-based agents retrieving, ranking, and synthesizing knowledge from literature, knowledge graphs, omics data, and clinical records • Build memory and feedback mechanisms for hypothesis refinement • Integrate external tools (pipelines, simulations, statistical models, databases) into agent workflows • Architect scalable systems combining structured and unstructured biomedical data • Collaborate with computational biologists, translational scientists, and engineers • Evaluate robustness, reliability, and interpretability in high-stakes settings Required Qualifications: • Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or related field • Hands-on LLM experience (fine-tuning, alignment, structured prompting) • Agent-based systems or complex LLM orchestration framework experience • Python proficiency and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow) • Large-scale biomedical dataset experience (genomics, transcriptomics, clinical records, scientific corpora) • Multi-agent systems and LLM orchestration frameworks • Knowledge graphs Preferred Qualifications: • Autonomous research assistant design experience • Knowledge graphs, hybrid symbolic-neural systems, or multimodal foundation model familiarity • Healthcare AI privacy, security, and regulatory knowledge Work Arrangement: 5 days/week on-site at South San Francisco office. Relocation preference assessed during application. No remote flexibility. Salary: $190,000-$280,000 annually base.
