Global Vision Recruitment on Behalf of Mega Star Investments Pty Ltd T/A Swagath Spice Kitchen Date Posted: August 07, 2026 Position: Chef Salary: $79,000-$85,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation Hours: 38 hours per week Mode: Full-time Location: 1/117 Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly, VIC 3163 Experience required: Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant roles. We're looking for a passionate and skilled Chef to join our dynamic team! The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to: • Collaborate with the management team to plan menus that reflect the restaurant's offerings. • Estimate food and labour costs for menu items, ensuring profitability and cost-efficiency. • Order food supplies and ingredients, maintaining inventory levels to support menu requirements and ensure availability of fresh ingredients. • Develop new dishes or modify existing ones, keeping the menu innovative while adhering to customer preferences and dietary requirements. • Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes according to established recipes • Oversee the preparation process, ensuring that all food is cooked to perfection and meets the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and consistency. • Demonstrate proper cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on best practices to ensure food quality. • Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and appearance. • Discuss food preparation and quality control issues with Manager, and kitchen and waiting staff to resolve any challenges and improve efficiency. • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure dishes meet customer expectations in terms of taste, portion sizes, and presentation. • Explain and enforce hygiene regulations, ensuring all kitchen staff follow proper food safety procedures. • Select, train, and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they understand cooking procedures, safety protocols, and the standards of food preparation. • Manage the freezing and preservation of foods as required, ensuring ingredients are stored safely and remain fresh. • Oversee the proper storage of perishable items and ensure that stock rotation is maintained. Qualifications: • Certificate III & IV in Commercial Cookery (Preferred but not mandatory) • Diploma of Hospitality Management (Preferred but not mandatory) Skills and Experience: • Proven experience as a chef in a fast-paced kitchen, preferably with a focus on Indian or South Asian cuisine. • Strong knowledge of traditional Indian dishes, spices, and cooking techniques. • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of food quality. • Strong attention to detail, especially in food presentation. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to work efficiently and multitask in a busy environment. • A passion for cooking and providing an exceptional customer dining experience.
