At Lowell Inc., this position plays a key role in producing complex, tight-tolerance components used in orthopedic implants and life-saving medical devices — where precision, consistency, and quality are critical. The Work You’ll Be Doing In this role, you will: • Set up and operate Nakamura CNC lathe / mill-turn machines • Read, edit, and optimize CNC programs in collaboration with engineering • Interpret blueprints, process documentation, and GD&T requirements • Perform first-article and in-process inspection to verify part quality • Adjust offsets, tooling, and process parameters to maintain tight tolerances • Run production while ensuring consistency and repeatability • Perform part finishing operations including deburring and surface refinement • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams Machines, Controls & Equipment You’ll work with equipment such as: • Machines: Nakamura CNC Lathe / Mill-Turn Centers • Controls: (Fanuc-based / Nakamura controls) • Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers, indicators, precision measuring tools • Environment: Clean, bright, highly controlled manufacturing environment Materials You’ll Work With • Stainless Steel • Titanium • Medical-grade alloys What We’re Looking For Required: • 3+ years of CNC lathe or mill-turn machining experience • Experience setting up and operating CNC machines independently • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T • Ability to perform in-process inspection and hold tight tolerances • Strong attention to detail and process discipline • Team-oriented with a positive, professional attitude Preferred (Not Required): • Experience with Nakamura machines • Mill-turn / multi-axis machining experience • Light programming or macro editing experience • Experience in medical device or high-precision manufacturing Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose Lowell because: • Work on complex, high-precision medical components that matter • Clean, bright, and organized shop environment • Advanced equipment with a strong focus on automation and process control • Support from engineering and quality — not left guessing • Opportunity to grow into more advanced machining and automation roles • Stable company with 55+ years of proven success Pay, Benefits & Schedule Pay Range: $23 – $38/hr (DOE) Benefits: • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Life insurance & short-term disability • 401(k) with 3% employer contribution • Profit-sharing plan • Paid time off Schedule: • Friday–Sunday • 12-hour day shifts Overtime: Available as needed Apply Interested machinists can apply directly through hireCNC. 👉 Apply Now or Save This Job to come back later.
