Description
Lightning AI, the company behind PyTorch Lightning, is seeking a Data Center Technician to maintain and support hardware infrastructure at their data center facility in Allen, Texas. This role focuses on ensuring physical infrastructure reliability, system diagnostics, and operational excellence in a 24/7 environment.
What You'll Do
• Maintain data center hardware including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of servers, storage, and network infrastructure
• Diagnose and resolve system, compute, and network issues to restore functionality
• Rack, label, cable, and configure new server, storage, and network infrastructure according to standards
• Monitor onsite hardware proactively to prevent failures and become a subject matter expert on physical technical aspects of the data center
• Collaborate with hardware support, RMA, and remote hands teams to resolve infrastructure issues and coordinate parts replacement
• Create and maintain installation standards and documentation for consistency across all data centers
What You Need
• 2+ years of experience in data center environments with technical proficiency in critical infrastructure systems including power distribution, air flow management, environmental monitoring, capacity planning, DCIM software, structured cabling, and cable management
• Strong Linux administration experience
• Experience setting up networking appliances (Ethernet and InfiniBand)
• Precision and attention to detail in debugging, documentation, and equipment configuration tasks
• Resourceful problem-solver mindset with ability to identify solutions independently under constraints
• Availability for 24/7 operations including on-call rotation and after-hours support
• Strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate with network engineers, SREs, and operations teams
Nice to Have
• Experience in HPC environments
• Experience working with Dell or NVIDIA equipment
