Position Summary: At Miovision, we are engineering the future of smart transportation, and we are looking for a highly motivated Data Scientist to help us navigate the massive intersections of our global transportation data. With years of rich, real-world data securely parked in our systems, we need a curious, detail-oriented mind to help us shift our insights into high gear. You will merge onto a highly collaborative team, applying statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI to help our customers bypass gridlock and solve complex, real-world infrastructure challenges. Objectives and Responsibilities: - Data Wrangling: Assist in preparing, transforming, and deeply analyzing complex data from real-world sources, including global locations and vehicles. - Pipeline Paving: Contribute to building, validating, and maintaining customer-facing machine learning models and robust data pipelines under the mentorship of senior team members. - Agile Execution: Help break down complex, overarching project requirements into small, actionable, and deliverable slices. - Code Craftsmanship: Write impeccably clean, well-documented, and highly reproducible code while following software engineering best practices. - Quality Control: Champion proactive efforts to improve data quality, integrity, and completeness across the entire organization. - Pattern Recognition: Deep-dive into massive datasets to identify hidden patterns, spot anomalies, and uncover fresh opportunities for impactful analysis. - Clear Communication: Translate complex, technical findings into clear, actionable insights for your immediate team, cross-functional partners, and relevant stakeholders. - Continuous Growth: Actively seek feedback, learn Miovision’s data stores inside and out, and enthusiastically develop both your data science skills and your traffic engineering domain knowledge. The Ideal Profile: - The Rising Star: You bring experience (which can include co-ops, internships, or heavy academic projects) in data analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning/AI. (Bonus points for a Master’s or Ph.D. in a highly quantitative STEM field!) - The Python & Git Pro: You have a strong working knowledge of Python programming—writing clean, readable, well-structured code—and are entirely comfortable using Git for version control. - The Data Manipulator: You are highly familiar with SQL for pulling, manipulating, and analyzing data.
