Description
If you find a job or receive an interview through a listing on SEVENSEAS Media, please let your interviewer or employer know where you found it, it makes a real difference for us.
WWF was founded in 1961 and works across six continents and nearly 100 countries, with a reach that includes the world’s most critical forests, river systems, wetlands, savannas, and ocean habitats. The Development Officer, Annual Giving identifies, cultivates, and stewards high-value annual giving donors and prospects, managing a portfolio that includes Leadership Partners giving USD 10,000 to 25,000 and Partners in Conservation giving USD 1,000 to 10,000, all with capacity to significantly increase their annual support. The post works towards WWF’s fundraising objectives for the Annual Giving team, following Development department priorities and goals.
Key responsibilities include taking responsibility for raising funds towards Annual Giving team goals, working with the Director to develop and implement cultivation and stewardship strategies for high-value prospects and donors, monitoring performance against agreed objectives, and executing a work plan aligned to both team and individual goals. The postholder runs a programme of high-touch personal contact with high-value annual giving donors and prospects, making regular identification, cultivation, and stewardship contacts with the aim of deepening engagement and increasing unrestricted annual support. The role also identifies prospects with major gift potential for hand-off to individual giving staff, prepares relevant materials for colleagues, researches prospects and donors, develops cultivation strategies, and writes, edits, and coordinates personal correspondence.
Further duties include monitoring donor relationships to ensure an appropriate level of interaction, tracking trends in giving and integrating findings into cultivation strategies, keeping up to date on programmatic developments for use in donor relations, responding to enquiries from donors and prospects with appropriate cultivation and programme information, working with the Regional Philanthropy and Gift Planning teams to provide comprehensive engagement and giving opportunities, and assisting the Director and other development staff with engagement opportunities such as events, travel, and webinars.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, knowledge of development practices and techniques, and a minimum of four years of demonstrated success in fundraising including the cultivation and solicitation of donors. WWF is looking for someone able to represent the organisation professionally to donors, members, and the public, to work independently while contributing as a team member, and to balance competing demands and shifting priorities, with excellent written and oral communication, organisational ability, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Knowledge of conservation issues is preferred. The competencies listed cover reliability and follow-through, organisation and time management, interpersonal communication and collaboration, relationship management and stakeholder engagement, intellectual curiosity about WWF’s programmes and donors’ philanthropic priorities, and research and analytical skills.
Applicants must be legally authorised to work in the US, as the position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship, and relocation is not provided.
