JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Demonstrates the technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the successful operations of the department including, where applicable, age specific competency. *
Maintains the IC program by reviewing patient/ resident diagnosis, laboratory results and autopsy reports. Evaluates infection surveillance data to determine nosocomial infections, analyzes incidents of nosocomial infection. Consults with nursing staff regarding potentially infectious patients/ residents, antibiotic therapy, isolation policies and patient/ resident placement. Investigates problems of epidemiological nature and reports all communicable diseases to County and State health departments. Acts as a resource to the EHS regarding employee exposure to infectious diseases and health related problems.
Essential Job Qualifications
1. Education: Master’s degree in health-related field.
2. Experience: Five years’ experience in Infection Prevention preferred.
3. Training/Certification: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
4. Licensure: Current RN license. NYS RN license upon hire.
5. Other: Advanced knowledge of communicable disease control, knowledge of all regulations and reporting protocol to all State and Federal agencies. Computer proficiency. Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
