OceanX is a nonprofit working to unlock the ocean’s sustainable potential through a dual focus on science and education, and is a nonprofit operating programme of Dalio Philanthropies. OceanX Education is seeking a Director of Public Events to lead the strategy, design and execution of its public-facing programmes in Singapore. The role oversees a small team across Event Operations, Programming and Audience Curation to ensure events are impactful, inclusive and operationally sound. The ideal candidate blends strategic vision with stakeholder fluency, delivering experiences that expand reach, deepen engagement and advance OceanX Education’s mission. Duties include developing and leading a comprehensive strategy for public events; managing and mentoring a cross-functional team across operations, audience engagement and content development; designing and implementing scalable systems and processes for event planning, execution, evaluation and reporting; integrating event management software such as Cvent; using data analytics and dashboards to track engagement and measure impact; cultivating strategic partnerships with institutions, venues and technology providers; overseeing event budgets and contracts; upholding high standards of quality, accessibility and inclusivity across in-person, virtual and hybrid events; directing technical infrastructure including AV systems and live-streaming; serving as a senior spokesperson and ambassador for OceanX Education; and reporting on key performance indicators to senior leadership. The role involves moderate travel, primarily within the region and to the vessel, and flexible hours to support cross-time-zone collaboration. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in event management, communications, marketing, business administration or a related field; 15 or more years of experience in public events, live programming or experiential marketing, including at least five years in a senior leadership role; demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and executing audience-centred programming at scale; strong analytical capabilities including performance dashboards and ROI assessment; knowledge of AV production and hybrid event formats; exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; and proficiency in emerging AI tools.
