JOB OVERVIEW We are seeking an ambitious and collaborative Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Trainer to support our fast-growing operations within Saronic. The EHS Trainer will be responsible for the development, implementation, delivery, management, and evaluation of Environmental, Health, and Safety training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910 (General Industry), OSHA 29 CFR Part 1915 (Shipyard Employment), applicable U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) regulations, and other federal, state, and local requirements while promoting a culture of learning, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence at the Saronic Shipyard in Franklin, LA. The successful candidate will possess experience in industrial or maritime environments and demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver regulatory and competency-based training programs that support safe shipbuilding, ship repair, and waterfront operations. RESPONSIBILITIES - EHS Training - Oversee and coordinate Environmental, Health, and Safety training programs including instructor-led, computer-based, hands-on practical, self-paced, and monthly safety topic training. - Develop, implement, deliver, manage, and evaluate EHS training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910, OSHA 29 CFR Part 1915, applicable USCG regulations, EPA requirements, and company policies. - Provide EHS training and education to employees at all organizational levels, including new hire orientation, annual refresher training, supervisor development, contractor orientation, and specialized training for high-risk activities. - Develop, review, and continuously improve shipyard-specific training curricula, lesson plans, presentations, practical evaluations, and competency assessments. - Coordinate and manage third-party vendors providing specialized EHS and maritime training. - Develop and maintain training matrices and qualification records to ensure employees meet regulatory and company-required certifications. Shipyard Safety Training Develop and coordinate training programs covering, but not limited to: - OSHA Shipyard Employment requirements (29 CFR Part 1915) - OSHA General Industry requirements (29 CFR Part 1910) - Hazard Communication - Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) - Confined Space Entry - Respiratory Protection - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Fall Protection - Hearing Conservation - Welding, Cutting, and Hot Work - Fire Prevention and Fire Watch - Scaffolding - Electrical Safety - Cranes, Hoists, Rigging, and Material Handling - Forklift and Powered Industrial Truck Operations - Incident Reporting and Investigation - Emergency Response and Evacuation - Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) - Hazard Recognition and Risk Assessment - Shipyard-specific safe work practices - Vessel construction and repair safety requirements Regulatory Compliance - Interpret and apply OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910, 29 CFR Part 1915, applicable USCG regulations, and other maritime safety requirements. - Monitor changes to OSHA, USCG, EPA, and other applicable regulations and update training programs accordingly. - Support OSHA inspections, USCG inspections, customer audits, and internal compliance assessments. - Maintain training documentation and qualification records required for regulatory compliance.
