Position Title: Estimator
Position Reports To: VP, Central Estimating
Position Summary
Estimators are responsible for all aspects of bidding a project including labor, time and materials requirements to determine overall cost of projects. This role is responsible for increasing profitability through comprehensive cost estimating.
Essential Functions
• Interprets and analyzes contract documents regarding terms, specifications, clarifications, and requirements for each project and prepare estimates and bid proposals.
• Estimates majority of the work applicable to the respective region or business line, including, target projects and owners list, and managing bid flow.
• Reads and interprets sophisticated specs and drawings. Uses formulas and makes calculations. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
• 5+ years of industrial services experience preferred
• 3+ years of experience reading isometric drawings
• 3+ years of experience estimating industrial services lines of business
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional team initiatives
• Knowledge in safety procedure implementation is a plus
• Ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects and competing priorities
• Effective communication and critical thinking skills
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
• Critical in managing the business and identifying problems or opportunities
• Demonstrates ability to be flexible and quickly adaptable to changing conditions across all spectrums
• Creative and innovative approaches and solutions on a project-by-project basis
• Effective participation in team environment, with both external and internal teammates
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Light work that includes moving objects up to twenty pounds
• No adverse environmental conditions expected
