Description
About Us
Temporal is an open source programming model that can simplify code, make applications more reliable, and help developers focus on the important things like delivering features faster. We are on a mission to be the reliable foundation of every developer’s toolbox, and are building the team that will make that happen.
Our values guide us —they are present in how we show up, make decisions, and work together to make an impact. We’re curious, driven, collaborative, genuine and humble.
Temporal is growing and we are looking for those who share our values, challenge 'standard' thinking, and want to influence our future. If you have a passion for improving the developer experience, building world-class open-source software and communities, and want to be a part of our amazing team, we'd love to hear from you! Role Summary
The GTM Compensation and Insights Manager owns the design, administration, and analysis of Temporal's sales compensation programs. Reporting to the Director of GTM Strategy and Analytics, you'll run the monthly commission process end to end, design and manage SPIFs and comp plans across the GTM org, and develop the compensation policies that keep our incentive structures fair, scalable, and aligned to the business. You'll also own the analytics that tell us whether our comp programs are working — from rep-level attainment to windfall risk — and lead the evaluation of commission tooling as we scale. This role is ideal for a sales compensation or comp operations professional who combines process rigor with strong analytical instincts, and who's comfortable owning a deadline-driven, high-visibility process each month.
What you'll do:
Commission Operations
Run the end-to-end monthly commission process, calculating payouts and making adjustments for edge cases such as consumption spikes, departing customers, and windfall situations
Produce the monthly Commission Review Decks shared with sales and finance leadership
Triage disputes and questions from reps and managers, ensuring timely and accurate resolution
SPIF & Incentive Design
Design, track, and troubleshoot SPIFs across segments, including New Logo, Growth, Consumption, Manager, SA, BDR, and Commit
Structure payout mechanics (ARR-based vs. actual consumption), set rates, and handle retro adjustments
Comp Plan Design & Administration
Write and issue comp plans for AEs, BDRs, managers, and SAs, including quota setting and BCR (base commission rate) calculations
Handle proration for mid-year hires or changes, and plan changes tied to promotions or role shifts
Compensation Policy & Governance
Draft and propose new compensation policies, such as commission leave policy covering consumption vs. non-consumption quota holders
Interpret existing terms and conditions and raise edge cases for leadership approval
Own the evaluation and implementation of commission software (e.g., CaptivateIQ), managing the project plan and vendor coordination
Compensation Insights & Analysis
Monitor rep-level attainment, flag outliers such as reps hitting 100%+ of quota from a single account, and evaluate whether windfall provisions should be triggered
Partner with GTM Analytics to ensure compensation data integrity across systems
What you'll need:
5-7 years of experience in sales compensation, commissions, or comp operations, ideally in a B2B SaaS or consumption-based business
Strong Excel/Google Sheets modeling skills; SQL or BI tool experience a plus
Experience with commission platforms (e.g., CaptivateIQ, Xactly, or similar) and Salesforce
High attention to detail and comfort owning a monthly, deadline-driven process
Ability to translate ambiguous policy questions into clear, defensible decisions
Strong written communication skills for policy documentation and leadership reporting
