Description
OLIX is building the DX-1 decode accelerator—a next-generation hardware system requiring deep firmware and hardware-software integration expertise. As an Architect/Staff Hardware Integration Engineer, you will be the technical authority spanning ASIC, BMC, and photonic interconnect from pre-silicon through production, partnering with leadership to define architectural direction and establish engineering standards across the hardware-software boundary.
What You'll Do
• Own technical direction for hardware-software integration across ASIC, BMC, and photonic interconnect fabric; partner with leadership to set architectural strategy and make critical technical decisions
• Define architectural principles, interface contracts, and standards for firmware interfaces, ASIC validation methodology, and interconnect fabric integration; ensure consistent application across teams
• Lead the full lifecycle from pre-silicon emulation and bring-up through post-silicon validation to production reliability and field issue resolution
• Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment within the team and with adjacent teams; translate priorities into concrete execution plans and technical specifications
• Raise the technical bar through code review, design feedback, and mentorship of senior engineers; support growth while maintaining high standards
What You Need
• Deep expertise in embedded Linux BSP: Yocto/OpenEmbedded, U-Boot or UEFI, device driver development, and device tree authoring for custom silicon
• Deep expertise in firmware and hardware-software co-development: ASIC bring-up and validation, BMC/OpenBMC platform firmware, or high-speed SerDes and photonic interconnect bring-up
• Deep expertise in server management protocols (IPMI/IPMB, Redfish, MCTP, PLDM) and low-speed peripheral integration (I2C, SPI, UART, CPLD) in rack-scale hardware context
• Proven track record delivering complex hardware-software integration architecture that has shipped across multiple generations in large, fast-moving organizations
• Outstanding technical communicator able to articulate architectural decisions to engineers, managers, and senior leadership; strong design documentation skills
Nice to Have
• Experience with cycle-deterministic or precision timing systems: IEEE 1588 / PTP, SyncE, or White Rabbit Protocol
• Track record driving technical outcomes in organizations with high reliability expectations, including robust observability, incident management, and close collaboration with hardware teams on field issues
