Role Purpose The Head of Field Sales is responsible for leading, developing and scaling a high‑performing field sales organisation to deliver installation, revenue, and customer acquisition targets. The role provides strategic leadership across territories, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives a customer‑centric sales culture that supports long‑term retention and business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Sales Performance
Develop and implement robust field sales strategies by territory and market segment aligned to overall business objectives.
Set, track and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual revenue, installation and customer acquisition targets across all field sales channels.
Analyse market trends, competitive activity and performance data to ensure the company’s offerings remain competitive.
Identify and develop new business opportunities, including targeted lead generation campaigns (e.g. SMEs).
Prioritise target areas based on demographic data, heating type, PAYG penetration and other relevant insights.
Team Management, Development & Retention
Recruit, onboard, coach and develop a high‑performing field sales team.
Lead and support Regional Sales Managers to drive performance across their teams.
Monitor individual and team performance, providing regular feedback and performance management where required.
Set clear expectations and take decisive action on under‑performance, including capability improvement plans and exits where necessary.
Build a motivating, results‑driven and customer‑focused sales culture.
Operational Management & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Ensure effective and accurate use of CRM systems for lead management, forecasting, reporting and decision‑making.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to ensure completion and finance metrics are met
Monitor field productivity and operational efficiency across territories.
Customer Experience & Retention
Champion a customer‑centric sales approach that delivers a positive, compliant and sustainable customer experience.
Oversee resolution of customer issues arising from the sales process.
Gather and use customer feedback to inform continuous improvement.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all field sales activity complies with regulatory requirements, internal policies and codes of conduct.
Protect the reputation of the business through consistent & ethical sales practices.
Maintain accurate reporting and documentation.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
Essential
Proven senior leadership experience in field sales or direct sales environments.
Strong track record of delivering revenue and customer acquisition targets.
Experience building, leading and performance‑managing large, geographically dispersed teams.
Data‑driven approach with strong analytical and CRM capability.
Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance in sales environments.
Desirable
Experience in utilities, PAYG, energy or regulated consumer markets.
Experience scaling field sales operations in high‑growth environments.
