Description
Do you like working with different project teams in a fast-paced environment? Are you interested in joining an organization focused on making a positive impact? If so, we’d like to talk with you about growing with us. EnSafe is accepting applications for a Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) Engineer to join our team in one of the following office locations: Farmer’s Branch, TX; Houston, TX; Pensacola, FL; Jacksonville, FL; or Tampa, FL. Candidates must be willing to work from one of these offices; relocation assistance is available to meet this expectation.
We are seeking a water resources leader who is an analytical person and analytical thinker in hydrology and hydraulics. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with 10+ years of experience in H&H or water resources engineering and advanced proficiency in HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) modeling. You should enjoy working on diverse projects in an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and professional growth. In this mid-to-senior level role, you will provide technical leadership to a small team and excel at client engagement and business development in a consulting setting.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES In this position, you will:
Leading and managing hydrology & hydraulics projects from planning through completion for public and private clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
Mentoring and supervising a team of junior and mid-level water resources staff, fostering their development, and maintaining a collaborative team environment.
Performing and overseeing complex hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using tools such as HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) for flood studies, stormwater management, and related civil infrastructure projects.
Reviewing and approving technical reports, models, designs, and calculations to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry’s best practices.
Presenting findings and technical recommendations to clients and stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights during meetings and reports.
Maintaining and developing strong client relationships by delivering excellent work and responsiveness, and supporting business development through identifying opportunities, assisting with proposals, and leveraging your network.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (civil engineers, environmental scientists, etc.) and coordinating with regulatory agencies to facilitate project permitting and compliance.
Upholding EnSafe’s safety culture in all project activities – ensuring that “safety is part of everything we do” for both our team and our clients.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Minimum Skills and Requirements: Education & Licensure:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (ABET-accredited). A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Experience : Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in hydrology, hydraulics, or water resources engineering (consulting experience preferred), including a history of project management and team leadership.
Technical Skills: Direct expertise with HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS (1D/2D) modeling software is required. Familiarity with related tools (e.g., GIS, StormCAD, SWMM, or other hydrologic/hydraulic models) and engineering design software are a plus.
Project Domain Knowledge: Experience in civil/horizontal infrastructure projects (e.g., stormwater drainage, flood control, watershed management) within the environmental consulting domain. Understanding of applicable regulations and permitting (such as FEMA floodplain considerations) is beneficial.
Leadership & Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple priorities. A collaborative approach to problem-solving and excellent organizational skills.
