Gender: Any Candidate Nationality: Any Job Type: Full-time Role Context The Lead Mermaid operates between the performer and program-leadership levels. While remaining active in shows and guest activities, the role assists the Head Mermaid with training, readiness checks, operational planning, mentoring, equipment care, and the consistent application of safety and performance expectations. Key Responsibilities * Perform underwater Mermaid routines for scheduled shows and special programs. * Participate in meet-and-greets, themed events, photographs, and promotional activities. * Execute choreography and approved improvisational movement in a Mermaid tail. * Deliver confident guest interactions for children, adults, and international audiences. * Maintain consistent character presentation and show awareness. * Support the Head Mermaid with daily team and performance planning. * Help prepare performance rooms, tails, costumes, props, and accessories. * Confirm that performers and equipment are ready before scheduled activities. * Reinforce choreography, trident handling, and guest-interaction requirements. * Support dry activations, Dolphin Meet and Greet, and Shark Lagoon programs. * Assist with private experiences and other revenue-supporting activities. * Mentor Mermaid Trainees and Mermaids during rehearsals and operations. * Demonstrate professional conduct, punctuality, reliability, and safety awareness. * Help developing performers understand show and workplace expectations. * Participate in show reviews and provide constructive operational input. * Maintain personal fitness, water confidence, and breath-control ability. * Attend rehearsals, safety exercises, costume fittings, and required training. * Follow instructions issued by Dive Operations and the Dive Safety Officer. * Comply with the Atlantis Dubai Dive Operations Manual. * Maintain accurate records of personal dives. * Clean, dry, inspect, and correctly store Mermaid equipment. * Report defective, unsafe, missing, or worn items immediately. * Monitor assigned stocks such as makeup, accessories, or performance essentials. * Accept ownership of assigned areas covering costumes, inventory, choreography, or training. * Maintain safe conditions for performers, guests, colleagues, and animals. * Communicate professionally with marine, dive, entertainment, and operational teams. * Attend briefings and departmental meetings. * Protect confidential guest, colleague, and operational information. Ideal Profile * Between 2 and 5 years of relevant aquatic or guest-facing performance experience. * Experience may include Mermaid work, synchronized swimming, freediving, diving, dance, theatre, or character entertainment. * At least 1 year of experience supporting mentoring, training, show delivery, or an operational responsibility is preferred. * Recognized Freediver certification is required. * Recognized Mermaid certification is required. * Able to pass the annual departmental swim test. * Able to complete the required annual dive medical or fitness assessment. * Strong breath-hold ability appropriate to assigned performances. * Comfortable performing underwater in different temperatures. * Physically capable of repetitive movement and extended costume use. * Able to swim in a monofin or Mermaid tail for sustained periods. * Able to handle, clean, move, and store costumes and equipment. * CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain them. * Confident speaking English during programs, briefings, and team communication. * Comfortable working near animals within the Atlantis collection. * Positive, dependable, mature, and willing to apply feedback. * Available for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special activations.
