Role Overview This role will support   Senio r Legal   Counsel , who currently oversees legal matters for the Japan business, across a range of corporate, transactional, and commercial legal matters. The role offers exposure to high-profile data center M&A, real estate, and commercial transactions, working under the guidance and oversight of senior legal counsel. Responsibilities • Provide legal support and   assistance   on various legal matters relevant to the daily operations of the business • Support corporate matters relating to Japan business and entities, including resolutions, corporate seals, and approvals • Support legal due diligence for M&A transactions, joint ventures, and strategic investments, including document review and data room management, with exposure to data center assets, real estate holdings, and telecommunications infrastructure • Assist   with the structuring and negotiation of share purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, asset acquisitions, and strategic partnership arrangements, under the guidance of senior counsel • Support real estate legal matters including site acquisitions, ground leases, build-to-suit agreements, and property development contracts for mission-critical infrastructure • Assist   with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements including   data center services agreements, colocation contracts, power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and SLAs with enterprise clients and hyperscale operators • Support tracking and coordination of zoning, permitting, environmental compliance, and land use matters for data center developments • Assist   in coordinating relationships with external counsel across multiple   jurisdictions , supporting cost-effective and strategic legal support What We Are Looking For Requirements • Law degree from an accredited university, or qualified to practice law in Japan • Qualifications or experience practicing in other   jurisdictions   is a plus • At least   2-3   years of experience in a major Japanese or international law firm • Exposure to data center, telecommunications, or technology infrastructure sectors preferred • Native-level Japanese and business-level English or above • S trong command of MS Office software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Experience at a startup or fast-paced multinational company a plus • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail DayOne is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
