Description
CIMMYT is a cutting-edge, non-profit, international organization dedicated to solving tomorrow’s problems today. It is entrusted with fostering improved quantity, quality, and dependability of production systems and basic cereals such as maize, wheat, triticale, sorghum, millets, and associated crops through applied agricultural science, particularly in the Global South, through building strong partnerships. This combination enhances the livelihood trajectories and resilience of millions of resource-poor farmers, while working towards a more productive, inclusive, and resilient agrifood system within planetary boundaries. CIMMYT is a core CGIAR Research Center, a global research partnership for a food-secure future, dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.  For more information, visit  https://www.cimmyt.org/ Responsibilities: The Specialist's responsibilities are organized into the following workstreams. Each workstream includes representative activities; the Specialist is expected to exercise professional judgment to address related tasks not explicitly listed but reasonably within scope. • Build data pipelines and orchestrate data flows across source systems into the Fabric lakehouse/warehouse • Integrate Fabric pipelines with automated processes and triggers (Power Automate, scheduled and event-driven) • Support event-driven and scheduled data operations, including monitoring of pipeline health and failures • Maintain data models and documentation for datasets consumed by downstream reporting and automation • Develop Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets aligned with business needs • Align reporting with business KPIs and automated outputs (e.g., scheduled refreshes, automated distribution) • Build and maintain semantic models and DAX calculations to support consistent, reusable metrics • Optimize report and dataset performance (query folding, aggregations, incremental refresh) • Design and implement Power Automate flows (cloud and desktop, where applicable) • Automate business processes such as data refresh notifications, approval workflows, data validation and exception handling, and report distribution/alerting • Integrate automation with Power BI (alerts, subscriptions, triggers), Dataverse and D365, and Fabric pipelines • Implement error handling, retry logic, and monitoring for all production automation flows • Optimize workflows for performance and reliability • Promote reusable and standardized automation components (templates, connection references, environment variables) • Combine data and automation orchestration into coherent end-to-end solutions • Enable event-based and scheduled integrations across source and target systems • Coordinate data movement aligned with business process timing requirements (e.g., month-end close, reporting cycles) • Deliver integrated solutions using Power BI (analytics), Power Automate (automation), Agentic AI capabilities (where applicable), and Dataverse (data layer) • Ensure end-to-end scenarios are designed coherently across the data → insight → action chain • Support low-code solutions for business teams, balancing enablement with appropriate governance • Define and apply governance for both reporting and automation artifacts (environments, DLP policies, app/flow ownership) • Implement data governance practices across Fabric, Power BI, and Power Platform • Define and maintain data standards, naming conventions, and dataset certification/endorsement criteria • Ensure data quality controls across data pipelines (Fabric), reports (Power BI), and automated workflows (Power Automate) • Maintain a catalog of certified datasets, flows, and reports, with clear ownership • Optimize Power BI datasets, Fabric pipelines, and Power Automate flows (run duration, latency, cost) • Monitor capacity usage, flow execution perf
