Job Summary Employees in this role support plant operations by  maintaining , troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment used in brick manufacturing. This position helps ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and  maintain  a safe, efficient production environment. This position requires working  in close proximity to  and directly on industrial production machinery, moving equipment, and related systems, requiring strict adherence to all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout. Essential Job Functions • Inspect,  maintain , and repair production equipment • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues to minimize downtime • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to improve reliability and extend service life • Perform emergency and unscheduled repairs during production as needed • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment, including lifts, welders, cutting tools, and diagnostic equipment • Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to safely service and  maintain  equipment • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, manlifts, and other powered industrial equipment as  required  (must be trained and authorized) • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to complete maintenance tasks • Prepare, install, and set up machinery for new lines or processes • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately • Maintain  appropriate inventory  levels of parts, tools, and supplies • Follow all OSHA and company safety requirements  and  identify  potential hazards • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment performance • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the Maintenance Department • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational needs Physical Requirements • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the shift. • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, and squatting. • Frequent climbing of platforms, stairs, and ladders as needed. • Repetitive hand and arm movements • Ability to work in environments with elevated temperatures Work Environment • Industrial manufacturing environment • Exposure to dust, heat, steam, and noise • Exposure to moving mechanical equipment • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Ability to read, write, and understand written instructions, safety procedures, blueprints, and maintenance documentation • Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems • Ability to safely  operate  hand tools, power tools, and maintenance-related equipment • Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe equipment isolation practices • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers Education and Experience • High School Diploma or GED preferred • Trade certification or equivalent experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related field preferred • Previous  experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial maintenance preferred Schedule • Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM • Night Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM – 3:00 AM (occasionally may be  required  to work Fridays) • May be  required  to work weekends or holidays based on production needs • Overtime may be  required  based on production demands • Start times may vary depending on department, assignment, or location Safety Requirements • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures • Must complete and pass all required safety training • Must wear required PPE while performing job duties • Must  immediately  report unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries • Must  participate  in safety meetings Essential Functions and Reasonable Accommodation Cherokee Brick & Tile Company is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities  in accordance with  the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
