Department:
Sleep Center
Works under the supervision of the Sr. Administrative Director/ Cardiopulmonary Services or designee, Supervisor and upon the orders of a physician. Performs technically high-quality PSG testing as outlined in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Performs CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAP titrations. Maintains sleep apnea and titration logs during tests. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
• Performs non-invasive polysomnography using 16 or more channels.
• Correctly and accurately places PSG monitors (EMG, EKG, EEG, Oximeter, nasal and oral thermistors, leg leads, upper airway sensor, respiratory belts, and other monitors needed).
• Sets up CPAP/BIPAP/ASV/AVAPS ; administers oxygen therapy as necessary.
• Charts all patient events, behaviors, and information.
• Uses Hospital EPIC/ Meditech computer system.
• Performs preventative maintenance, calibration, minor repairs, cleaning, and disinfecting equipment.
• Performs related duties, such as, stocking supplies, clerical duties, satisfying telephone and other staff inquiries.
• Stays current on sleep literature and new technologies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited Respiratory Care Program required or successful completion of training in polysomnography with registration achieved.
Licensure: Current California State Polysomnographic Technologist license or California Respiratory Care Practitioners license required. Registered Respiratory Therapis t (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.
3. Experience: One (1) year experience in Sleep Medicine Center or EEG preferred.
Pay Range: The hourly rate for this position is $49.04 - $61.29. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
