We are seeking an experienced PowerBuilder Developer to join our client's team and play a key role in building, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise software solutions. This role is responsible for implementing new product features, resolving defects, and improving the reliability, usability, and performance of our applications. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, UX Designers, QA Engineers, and Scrum teams throughout the software development lifecycle, contributing to technical design, architecture, development, testing, and deployment. The ideal candidate combines deep PowerBuilder expertise with strong object-oriented programming skills, experience working with SQL Server and modern development tools, and a passion for delivering high-quality software in an Agile environment. Responsibilities Software Development Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using PowerBuilder. Implement new product features and resolve defects while maintaining high coding standards. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices. Incorporate unit testing into the development process to ensure software quality and reliability. Build scalable, maintainable solutions using object-oriented principles and design patterns. Architecture & Technical Leadership Propose technical and architectural solutions for new product features. Participate in technical design discussions and document software architecture. Ensure solutions align with overall technology strategy and business objectives. Perform root cause analysis for complex technical issues and recommend long-term improvements. Serve as a technical resource for development teams, helping resolve challenging technical problems. Agile Development Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation sessions, and Agile ceremonies. Provide effort estimates and technical input for future product enhancements. Communicate technical risks, dependencies, and scope changes to stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software on schedule. Software Quality & DevOps Manage source control, builds, packaging, and deployment processes. Utilize Azure DevOps, Git, and modern source control systems throughout the development lifecycle. Support continuous improvement of development practices, code quality, and delivery processes. Work closely with QA teams by providing risk assessments and supporting testing activities. Documentation & Collaboration Create clear technical documentation, implementation designs, and architectural diagrams. Communicate technical concepts effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Collaborate closely with Product, QA, UX, and Business teams throughout the development lifecycle. Contribute to a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement. Requirements 7+ years of professional software development experience. Extensive experience developing enterprise applications using PowerBuilder . Strong experience with C#, C++, or another object-oriented programming language . Experience working with SQL Server (Sybase experience is a plus). Experience building and maintaining desktop applications. Experience working with cloud-based solutions. Experience working in Agile, Scrum, Lean, or Kanban development environments. Experience with Azure DevOps , Git , or modern source control systems. Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, and design patterns. Experience with the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including: Unit testing Code reviews Version control Build processes Deployment Continuous Integration Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
