What Makes You a Great Fit
We are looking for a motivated and growing QA Engineer to join our Engineering team, with a primary focus on API and back-end testing. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of solutions that support our software quality, API test automation, and release reliability. You will build and extend automated API test suites - primarily using the Karate framework - collaborate with back-end engineers to validate services at the API layer, and play a role in advancing Pebl's business objectives.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Design, develop, and maintain automated API test suites using Karate, covering functional, regression, integration, and contract testing of REST services
- Collaborate with back-end engineers, product managers, and designers to define testable API requirements and support the delivery of high-quality software releases
- Contribute to the development and improvement of our Karate-based API test automation framework, CI/CD testing pipelines, and QA processes
- Validate API behavior end to end - request/response contracts, status codes, error handling, authentication/authorization, data integrity, and integrations with databases and message queues
- Apply foundational knowledge of service architectures to drive product reliability, regression coverage, and operational efficiency
- Uphold standards in test quality, API test documentation, and release readiness
- Participate in code reviews, test plan reviews, and QA process discussions
- Mentor junior QA engineers and help foster a culture of continuous learning and quality excellence
Let’s Connect If You Have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Typically 1-2 years of experience in software testing, QA, or test automation, with hands-on exposure to API/back-end testing
- Experience with API test automation tools such as Karate, REST Assured, or Postman - experience with Karate is strongly preferred
- A solid understanding of REST fundamentals: HTTP methods, status codes, headers, JSON/XML payloads, and authentication mechanisms (e.g., OAuth 2.0, JWT)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and running automated API tests as part of build and deployment workflows
- Basic SQL skills for validating data behind the API layer
- An eagerness to take initiative in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative development environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindset
- Experience with Java, Gherkin/BDD, contract testing (e.g., Pact), performance testing (e.g., Gatling, JMeter), or API mocking/service virtualization is a plus
Core Competencies:
Ownership & Initiative — Takes responsibility for assigned work and meets deadlines
Customer Focus — Responds promptly to customer needs with quality work
Problem Solving & Adaptability — Breaks problems into parts; uses feedback to improve
Technical Rigor in API Quality — Understands how services behave beneath the UI; designs tests that verify contracts, data, and failure modes rather than just happy paths
