A company is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer based in San Francisco. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining critical flight software systems for aerospace applications.
What You'll Do
• Design and develop flight software for autonomous or crewed aerospace systems
• Write and optimize low-level embedded code for resource-constrained flight computers
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with avionics and sensor systems
• Perform code reviews and establish software engineering best practices for safety-critical systems
• Debug and validate software in both simulation and flight test environments
What You Need
• 7+ years of professional flight software or embedded systems development experience
• Strong proficiency in C or C++ for embedded systems
• Deep understanding of real-time operating systems and scheduling constraints
• Experience with hardware-software integration and avionics systems
• Track record of delivering safety-critical software in aerospace or defense
Nice to Have
• Experience with Linux-based flight software stacks
• Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO-178C or similar
