Description
Job Summary
The Senior Manager - Operations is fully accountable for the P&L and operational performance of the site's Warehousing and Distribution operations, with ownership of business development and operational execution. The role leads and enables Maersk Warehousing and Distribution products and value propositions for customers, whether as standalone solutions or as part of integrated supply chain offerings. The position is responsible for driving profitable growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and people development while ensuring compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Profit & Loss Management (30%)
• Full P&L ownership for the site, covering all products and customers.
• Manage new and existing customer relationships.
• Oversee contract management and commercial performance.
• Monitor site performance, including cost management and asset utilization.
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization initiatives.
• Develop investment proposals and track implementation and returns.
2. Product & Business Development (30%)
• Execute the Warehousing and Distribution strategy for the site in alignment with the Area Warehousing and Distribution Head.
• Drive business development initiatives aligned with strategic objectives.
• Develop new customers in collaboration with the Area Sales team.
• Lead site implementations and operational start-ups.
• Deliver growth targets and optimize product mix.
• Support tender management activities.
• Expand the business footprint while ensuring profitable growth.
• Drive process improvement and cost management initiatives.
3. People Leadership (20%)
• Lead and develop the site organization.
• Facilitate training and capability development linked to products, solutions, and customer requirements.
• Drive employee engagement, talent development, and succession readiness.
• Ensure all people and safety standards are effectively managed.
• Foster a best-place-to-work culture while delivering excellent customer service.
4. Operational Excellence (10%)
• Lead and oversee all operational activities at the site.
• Ensure compliance with safety, resilience, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage subcontractors supporting Warehousing and Distribution operations.
• Drive compliance with governance frameworks and operational standards.
• Ensure adherence to site security and IT requirements.
5. General Management (10%)
• Oversee lease administration activities.
• Manage contractual obligations and compliance requirements.
• Ensure adherence to governance policies and procedures.
• Coordinate required customs reporting activities.
• Liaise with Customs authorities regarding new products, duties, taxes, and related matters.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent qualification.
Skills
• Extensive operational knowledge of Warehousing and Distribution.
• Strong people leadership and talent development capabilities.
• Excellent collaboration and influencing skills.
• Understanding of local cultures and market dynamics.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and act on P&L performance.
• Entrepreneurial and self-directed mindset.
• Strong stakeholder management skills within a matrix organization.
• Customer-focused with strong relationship management capabilities.
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics, or Supply Chain Operations.
