Description
Aeva develops advanced 4D LiDAR sensors and autonomous perception systems. This Senior Perception Engineer role focuses on designing and optimizing classical perception algorithms for autonomous driving and robotics applications, working with Aeva's novel silicon photonics-based 4D FMCW LiDAR technology. What You'll Do • Develop and contribute to Aeva's 4D perception algorithm stack for production autonomous driving systems • Rapidly prototype novel perception algorithms, implement them in production code, and iterate based on testing • Optimize perception code for real-time performance, scalability, and embedded deployment constraints • Own assigned technical tasks from conception through documentation, testing, and code review • Implement classical techniques including object detection, clustering, filtering, tracking, and sensor fusion What You Need • 3+ years of professional experience building and deploying real-time perception systems • Master's or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field • Strong proficiency in C++ development and hands-on experience with Linux environments • Deep expertise in classical perception algorithms: object detection, clustering, filtering, occupancy grids, data association, tracking • Solid understanding of sensor fusion techniques including Kalman filtering, Bayesian methods, and multi-sensor integration (LiDAR, IMU, GNSS, camera) • Working knowledge of 3D data representations including point clouds, meshes, and spatial data structures • Strong fundamentals in linear algebra and 3D geometry Nice to Have • Experience with robotics and autonomous vehicle software frameworks such as ROS or ROS2 • Knowledge of RADAR or LiDAR operating principles and sensor characteristics • Proficiency in scripting languages including Python and Bash • Experience with runtime optimization techniques such as parallelization, vectorization, and cache-friendly programming • Familiarity with modern build systems such as Bazel
