Job Title: Senior Software Simulation Engineer Location: Remote ( Must travel to Normal, IL for 1 week during the first month of onboarding; additional travel may be required based on project needs. ) Duration : 4+ Months ( possibility of extension & conversion ) Pay-range: $51 - 52/hr. About the Role: Seeking a Simulation Engineer (DES) to support manufacturing engineering and factory design through Discrete Event Simulation (DES) . The role will focus on building and analyzing FlexSim simulation models to evaluate manufacturing capacity, throughput, bottlenecks, buffers, and material flow. The engineer will work with manufacturing, material flow, layout, and industrial engineering teams to support factory and production line design decisions. Roles & Responsibilities • Build Discrete Event Simulation (DES) models using FlexSim for manufacturing and material flow processes. • Translate factory requirements such as demand, shifts, product mix, FPY, MTBF, and MTTR into simulation inputs. • Run scenario and sensitivity analyses using FlexSim Experimenter. • Analyze throughput, JPH/JPS, OEE/TEE, bottlenecks, overspeed, buffers, and capacity . • Evaluate material flow systems, including AGVs, ASRS, and intershop buffers . • Identify production risks and recommend solutions to improve throughput and efficiency. • Prepare clear reports and presentations summarizing simulation results, risks, and tradeoffs for engineering and leadership teams. • Collaborate with manufacturing, material flow, layout, and industrial engineering teams to align simulation models with real-world requirements. • Follow established DES modeling standards, libraries, documentation, and handoff procedures.
