We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance applications across the backend.
You will play a key role in defining system architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving best practices, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful digital products.
This is a hybrid position based in Medellín or Bogotá , offering a balance between onsite collaboration and remote flexibility.
AWS Architecture (Mandatory): Act as the core AWS Architect— must hold an active AWS Solutions Architect Certification or equivalent expert-level verified experience. Design and optimize secure serverless infrastructure using API Gateway, Lambdas, Step Functions, and strict IAM Policies.
Backend & APIs: Build high-performance microservices using Python (FastAPI) and GraphQL under an Event-Based Architecture .
Integrations & Security: Implement secure web flows and advanced OAuth architectures, focusing on On-Behalf-Of (OBO) user permission flows with external services.
Observability: Maintain system health and logs using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
Technical Requirements
Expert knowledge of AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch/Trail).
Strong production experience with Python and modern web frameworks (FastAPI preferred).
Deep understanding of GraphQL , Microservices, and Event-Driven design.
Proven experience handling advanced web security and OAuth / On-Behalf-Of flows.

AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day-to-day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation. Provide recommendations on effective AI use and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
