Description
The world still has coverage blind spots. You could help eliminate them at Skylo.
Skylo has pioneered a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity. We connect smartphones and IoT devices directly to satellites. No special hardware, no entirely new networks. Just billions of existing devices, suddenly reachable anywhere on Earth. We're not building toward this future. We're already in it.
Our direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, covering more than 72 million square kilometers, in partnership with leading satellite operators, mobile network operators, Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs worldwide. And we're just getting started.
At the heart of it all is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN: a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that seamlessly bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. It's the infrastructure that makes true anywhere, anytime connectivity possible.
When you join Skylo, you'll work at the intersection of three markets reshaping how the world stays connected: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.
This is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works
This role is based in Espoo, Finland, one of Skylo's core engineering hubs and fastest-growing sites. You'll work onsite three days a week as part of a team that's scaling quickly.
SUMMARY OF HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SKYLO
Skylo is hiring a Staff Network Performance Engineer to own the definition and implementation of network performance KPIs and metrics within our OSS platform, and to validate that those metrics are accurate and trustworthy before they reach production. You'll be the bridge between raw network, RAN, and Core counters and the dashboards, alarms, and reports that Engineering, NetOps, and leadership rely on to understand how the Skylo network is performing.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Implement network performance KPIs and metrics (availability, latency, throughput, attach/registration success, paging, and satellite-link-specific counters) for implementation in the OSS platform.
- Build and Configure KPI/metric formulas, counters, and dashboards directly in the OSS platform, working closely with OSS and NetOps engineering.
- Design and run validation test cases in lab and pre-production environments to confirm KPI accuracy, catch counter drift or double-counting, and sign off before production rollout.
- Partner with Network Implementation, Network Operations, and Systems Test teams to align KPI definitions with real operational and release-readiness needs.
- Maintain a single source of truth for KPI/metric definitions, thresholds, and data lineage so metrics stay consistent as the network and OSS platform evolve.
- Identify gaps in existing observability, propose new metrics, and retire or replace metrics that no longer reflect network reality.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- 8+ years in telecom network performance, OSS/BSS, or network engineering roles, with direct hands-on ownership of KPI/counter/metric implementation.
- Practical experience implementing and validating KPIs/metrics on an OSS/EMS platform (counter and formula configuration, PM/FM data pipelines).
- Solid understanding of 3GPP counters and KPIs across RAN and Core; NB-IoT, NTN, or satellite network experience is a strong plus.
- Comfortable designing and executing validation test plans in lab and pre-production environments, with a rigorous approach to sign-off before production changes.
- Proficiency with SQL and a scripting language (Python preferred) for data validation, and familiarity with dashboarding/reporting tools (e.g., Grafana).
- Track record of working cross-functionally with NetOps, Network Implementation, and Test teams in a fast-moving environment.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecom
