Join our team, and help us shape the future of anime! About the role In the role of Staff Software Engineer, you will report to the Platform Engineering Manager in Infrastructure. We are considering applicants for the location(s) of Hyderabad, Telangana, India As a Staff Software Engineer within the Infrastructure Engineering organization, you will lead the product strategy and technical execution of our Internal Developer Portal (IDP), a critical platform designed to boost developer productivity and streamline software ownership at scale. You will own the full-stack development of our IDP, from architecting scalable backend services to designing intuitive UI components that simplify complex developer workflows and operational tasks. Partnering closely with Engineering Operations and cross-functional teams, you will translate ambiguous requirements into an executable roadmap, ensuring our platform evolves to meet the future needs of Crunchyroll Engineering. Success in this role will be defined by your ability to deliver world-class developer experiences and drive adoption of self-service workflows which are secure, robust and reliable. Core Areas of Responsibility Own the year-over-year technical strategy and product roadmap for the Internal Developer Portal, driving initiatives that enhance developer productivity and service ownership. Architect, build, and maintain full-stack features within the IDP, leveraging modern web technologies for the frontend and scalable backend systems for data aggregation and integration. Lead the design of developer-centric UI workflows, simplifying complex processes such as service creation, dependency mapping, and operational dashboarding. Implement comprehensive measurement frameworks to track usage metrics and platform health, continuously iterating based on data-driven insights. Collaborate with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to drive adoption of platform standards, ensuring consistent access to tools and workflows across the organization. Participate in on-call rotations, owning the resolution of operational issues within your sphere of responsibility and actively reducing sources of toil. Coordinate effectively across time zones to align on project status, resolve dependencies, and ensure smooth hand-offs with engineering partners. You possess  12+ years of professional experience in high-scale production environments, with a proven track record of bridging the gap between robust software engineering and infrastructure operations. You are a Full Stack Expert: You are highly proficient in TypeScript (for modern frontend/portal development) and backend languages like Go or Python. You are comfortable modeling complex relationships in both relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and non-relational (DynamoDB) databases to support service catalogs. You architect for security and scale: You possess deep expertise in infrastructure-adjacent domains, including complex authentication/authorization frameworks (OIDC, RBAC) and security protocols, and have successfully applied data sovereignty and privacy principles (e.g., GDPR) to platform architectures. You are a force multiplier: You don't just build; you guide. You have a history of establishing operational best practices and sharing knowledge across teams to elevate the engineering culture.
