Description
A leading automotive embedded systems test company seeks a Staff Software Test Architect to design and build a Python-based test automation framework for embedded devices. This role combines deep technical expertise in test architecture with team leadership, mentoring engineers while driving quality assurance strategies across automotive software components.
What You'll Do
• Architect, design, and develop a robust Python-based test automation framework for embedded device testing with full traceability from requirements to test cases to defects
• Develop end-to-end automated test coverage for all software and system components, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing for automotive software
• Mentor and lead a team of test engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish consistent coding standards across the organization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, digital signal processing, and quality assurance to define test requirements and validate product specifications
• Design and optimize test strategies using multiple approaches: testbeds, simulators, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and software-in-the-loop (SIL) environments
What You Need
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
• 8–12 years of experience in software testing of embedded devices, preferably automotive industry
• Expert proficiency in Python and C++ programming with relevant test automation libraries and frameworks
• Proven experience architecting test frameworks and test-case development with Docker and Kubernetes
• Practical knowledge of embedded device testing, REST APIs, UI testing (Selenium/Playwright), Embedded Linux, Docker, SSH, shell scripting, and Linux services
• Strong experience with CI/CD practices using Jenkins, Jira, and Bitbucket; proficiency with Agile methodologies and sprint-based development
• Knowledge of automotive testing standards (ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, ASPICE) and automotive software systems (ADAS, infotainment, electric vehicle control)
• Experience with JAMA for requirements management and JIRA for defect tracking

• Deep understanding of computer networks and network protocols
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop test environment setup and optimization
