We support shipowners, shipyards, engineering companies and marine contractors worldwide by providing highly qualified technical personnel for complex projects. As part of the preparation of a major newbuilding programme for one of our clients, d2m Services is currently seeking an experienced Steel and coating Specialist to join the Owner's supervision team. The successful candidate will contribute to the construction of a next-generation RoRo vessel at a major Asian shipyard. Project mobilisation is currently planned for 2027. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Site Manager, the Paint & Steel Supervisor will be responsible for: Supervising steel fabrication, assembly and welding activities. Monitoring hull construction in accordance with approved drawings and specifications. Supervising surface preparation, coating application and corrosion protection activities. Verifying compliance with quality standards, coating specifications and Classification Society requirements. Participating in inspections, quality audits and acceptance activities. Monitoring punch list items and non-conformities related to structural and coating works. Preparing regular progress reports for the Site Manager. Requirements Technical background in shipbuilding, hull construction, welding or coating supervision, or equivalent professional experience. Proven experience supervising steel construction and coating activities on shipbuilding projects. Good knowledge of welding inspection and marine coating systems. Familiarity with Classification Society rules and shipyard quality standards. Fluent English is essential. Previous experience working in international shipyards is highly desirable. Benefits Location: Shipyard China Estimated mobilisation: Sept 2027 Estimated project duration : approximately 18 months The supervision team will oversee all phases of construction, from steel fabrication through harbour and sea trials to final delivery. PROJECT OVERVIEW : The project involves the construction of a modern RoRo cargo vessel designed to operate with a reduced environmental footprint. The vessel will feature hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, advanced power management systems and the latest safety technologies, meeting current international standards for operational efficiency, reliability and environmental performance. The supervision team will oversee the complete construction process, from steel cutting through harbour and sea trials to final delivery.
