Surgical Care Practitioner (Bank) Priory Hospital Bank Shifts Competitive Salary (depending on level of experience, training and qualification) The   Priory Hospital   in   Birmingham   is   part of Circle Health Group , Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide   network of hospitals & clinics,   performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Surgical Care Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Duties of this role include: • Assist in surgical interventions under the instruction and supervision of the operating surgeon, within your agreed scope of competence. • Carry out tasks such as tissue retraction, suctioning, irrigation, haemostasis (including electrosurgery and haemostatic agent application), and wound closure where competent. • Complete operative records accurately on behalf of the surgeon, ensuring clear, timely, and complete documentation. • Assist in collecting post-operative outcome data, such as NJR (National Joint Registry) forms and other audit or reporting tools. • Work as part of the wider multidisciplinary theatre team, supporting safe patient care across the anaesthetic, surgical, and recovery phases. • Support the team in demonstrating compassion, dignity, and respect in all patient interactions. Applicants should meet the following criteria: • NMC or HCPC registration with post-registration qualification as a Surgical Care Practitioner . • Proven experience in a theatre environment and competence in assisting with surgical procedures. • Excellent understanding of surgical anatomy, aseptic technique, and intraoperative patient care. • Ability to exercise clinical judgment, work under pressure, and maintain high standards of accuracy and professionalism. • Strong interpersonal and teamworking skills, with a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care.
