Innovation At Work, Inc. is seeking professional and reliable Switchboard Operators to support 24/7 communication operations at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, NY. This role is responsible for managing high-volume incoming calls, routing communications accurately, and supporting critical hospital communication functions including emergency notifications and overhead paging.

Available Shifts (24/7 Coverage Required)
Weekday Shifts (Monday – Friday):
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Weekend & Holiday Shifts:
• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM –11:00 PM
• Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedules will be assigned based on operational needs. Candidates must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate multi-line telephone switchboard systems in a high-volume environment
• Answer and route incoming calls to appropriate departments, staff, and on-call personnel
• Initiate overhead paging announcements and emergency code communications
• Maintain accurate logs of calls, messages, and critical communications
• Provide information and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner
• Monitor and respond to urgent and routine communication requests
• Ensure timely and accurate message delivery across departments
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a call center, switchboard, or customer service role
• Ability to handle high call volumes in a fast-paced environment
• Strong verbal communication and listening skills
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, call logging systems)
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
