Description
Niantic Spatial is building geospatial AI and high-fidelity mapping technology powered by a proprietary database of over 30 billion posed images. As Technical Lead for the Applied Computer Vision Algorithms Team, you will lead the development of 3D reconstruction, semantic mapping, and localization capabilities that enable spatial intelligence for AI and robotics applications. What You'll Do • Translate cutting-edge research papers (CVPR, ECCV, NeurIPS) into production-grade computer vision features • Lead design and implementation of 3D reconstruction pipelines, focusing on Structure from Motion (SfM), high-fidelity mesh generation, and Gaussian Splats • Develop and optimize Gaussian Splatting algorithms and ML code for high-performance execution on CPU and GPU • Write and maintain production C++ shader-based code for Android and Linux environments • Define technical roadmap and quarterly objectives for the Applied CV Team; mentor engineers and establish code governance standards • Partner with Research and Spatial Solutions teams to drive strategic initiatives and ensure spatial grounding of AI queries What You Need • 8+ years of professional experience in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related field (or 6+ years with PhD in relevant domain) • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field • Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python for production-level software development • Proven expertise in 3D Computer Vision/ML, specifically Structure from Motion (SfM), 3D reconstruction, and Gaussian Splatting rendering • Demonstrated ability to optimize algorithms for GPUs in Android or Linux environments • Experience with computer graphics and C++ shader-based implementations • Previous experience tech leading a computer vision engineering team in high-growth environment Nice to Have • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
