Note: This role is a 4 day-per-week in-office role, based in Richmond or Tullamarine. If working primarily from Richmond, expect to spend around 1–2 days per week at Tullamarine. Occasional Auckland travel, likely around quarterly, may also be required. Own the technical backbone behind one of the most significant supply chain transformations in Australian retail. MECCA is building a new Distribution Centre and continuing to evolve the technology that powers its warehouse, fulfilment and supply chain operations. We’re looking for a Technical Lead to take ownership of the supply chain systems landscape — leading a small systems engineering team, getting close to live warehouse operations, and helping MECCA build stronger internal capability across its WMS, codebase, releases and operational support model. The Role You Can Play Career-defining transformation exposure - play a key technical leadership role as MECCA brings a new DC and next-generation supply chain capability online Critical platform ownership - take ownership of the systems that keep warehouse, fulfilment and transport operations moving Tier-one WMS environment - work across Blue Yonder and a broader warehouse technology landscape Real engineering influence - help MECCA mature code ownership, pull requests, releases and deployment cadence in-house Operational impact - work close to the warehouse floor, solving real problems that affect fulfilment, service and customer experience Leadership scope - lead three systems engineers and help reduce specialist silos across the team Ambitious fulfilment agenda - support MECCA’s goal to compete at a high level in supply chain and fulfilment, including next-day delivery ambitions Key Responsibilities Include: • Own MECCA's supply chain product and systems landscape end to end • Support and improve the Blue Yonder WMS environment, including customisations, dashboards and operational workflows • Own codebase management, pull requests, release cadence and deployment practices — reducing dependency on third-party vendors over time • Lead three systems engineers across day-to-day support, operational health and continuous improvement • Partner with warehouse, supply chain, product, BA and technology stakeholders to translate requirements and root causes into practical system changes • Provide technical and operational leadership during incidents, including occasional P1/P2 support What You Will Bring • Strong experience with Blue Yonder or another tier-one WMS/warehouse management platform • Technical ownership experience across warehouse, fulfilment, logistics, supply chain or retail technology environments • Experience leading systems engineers, developers or technical support teams in a live operational setting • Confidence reviewing code, assessing pull requests, and owning release cadence and codebase governance • Strong Java (or Java-adjacent) backend capability, plus JavaScript and Microsoft SQL Server experience • Strong operational problem-solving skills, comfortable working directly with warehouse, service desk and technology stakeholders Nice to have: • Prior experience moving codebase ownership from a vendor back in-house • Exposure to Blue Yonder Page Builder • Experience with Shippit or other transport/fulfilment platforms • Experience in retail or e-commerce fulfilment No exact Blue Yonder background? If you’ve owned a comparable tier-one WMS or complex warehouse technology environment and can work across Java, JavaScript and SQL Server, we’d still be keen to talk. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with a strong operational lens.
