Akicita Federal is hiring a Vascular Surgeon to deliver high-quality, full-scope vascular surgical care to Veterans served by the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This is an on-site, direct patient care role where you will function as the primary vascular surgery provider, upholding standards consistent with those of a state-of-the-art civilian surgical program. If you are passionate about serving those who have served and want to bring your vascular expertise to a mission-driven environment, this opportunity is for you. - Provide comprehensive vascular surgery services including evaluation, diagnosis, surgical intervention, and post-operative management for Veteran patients - Perform standard daytime clinical shifts (8.5-hour shifts, Monday through Friday) as well as weeknight and weekend call coverage as scheduled - Respond to call-back requests when directed to return to the facility to provide urgent or emergent vascular patient care - Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans aligned with current American College of Surgeons vascular surgery guidelines - Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams—including nursing, anesthesiology, and internal medicine—to coordinate seamless patient care across the surgical episode - Document all clinical encounters, operative notes, and patient progress accurately and in compliance with VA medical records standards - Participate in credentialing and onboarding processes prior to the start of clinical duties to ensure timely availability for scheduled shifts
